Jean Urban

Jean Urban, 95, of Truman, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Heartland Senior Living in Truman. A service will be held on Thursday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran of Antrim with the Rev. Matthew Rusert officiating. Visitation will be 9:30–11 a.m. at the church. Burial will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery-Antrim. A livestream of the service can be viewed and condolences can be left at www.zahariafamilyfuneral.com. Jean was born on June 29, 1927, the daughter of Albert and Marie (Finke) Andersen. She received her elementary education in the Winnebago area and graduated from Truman High School in 1945.

On Aug. 17, 1947, Jean was united in marriage to Reinhard Urban. They made their home in St. James until May 1949, when they moved to the Urban family farm in rural Truman.

Jean’s greatest loves were her husband, her family and being a farm wife. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts, reading, playing the accordion, listening to country and polka music and was known for her love of whistling.

Surviving her are her children, Wayne, Linda (Bill) Krueger, Jerry, Rod (Brenda) Urban and Maggi (Wes) Anderson; daughter-in-law, Connie; 20 grandchildren, Darcy, Corby, Patrick, Christopher, Heidi, Ryan, Aaron, Michael, Michelle, Mitchell, Mark, Amanda, Melissa, Laure, Jerrick, Ethan, Cassie, Jason, Jonathan and Jenna; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Roxanne Andersen; nephew, Arlan; nieces, LuAnn and Janet; and several cousins.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Reinhard; son, Darrell; parents, Albert and Marie Andersen; brother, Lonnie Andersen; and nephew, Arnold.
