Independent School District #458 Board Meeting
February 17, 2026 5:30 PM
I. Call to Order: 5:31
Present — Mike Pfeil, Kenna Krahmer, Maria Haler, James Farnum and Aaron Brudelie
Absent — Paula Heckman
Staff present — Lisa Shellum, Danielle Johannsen, Leslie Glaser, and Eva Sonnabend.
II. Approval of Agenda:
Motioned by Krahmer, and seconded by Farnum, to approve/amend the February 17, 2026 Board Agenda. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
III. Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes:
Motioned by Krahmer, and seconded by Haler, to approve the January 20, 2026 regular minutes. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
IV. Presentation of Bills/Finance (consent agenda)
Motioned by Farnum, and seconded by Krahmer, to approve the February 2026 bills as presented in check register and wire transfer information. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
V. Committees:
A. Buildings and Grounds - project update - work in tunnels continuing, boiler controls installed and electrical work ongoing. Repair work on old boilers.
B. Sports Committee - March 19, 2026 at 5:30 in Truman.
C. Negotiations Committee - set a date to meet.
VI. Information Items
A. Bus Driver Appreciation - February 18
B. NAEP testing - 8th grade tested on February 12 and 4th grade will test on February 26.
C. Compensatory Funding update/New Formula $7,683.00 2.69% inflation increase.
VII. Action Items
A. Handbook
A motion was offered by Farnum, seconded by Brudelie, to approve the updated handbook. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
B. Spring Coaches
A motion was offered by Brudelie, seconded by Haler, to approve the spring coaches as presented. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
C. Senior Class Trip
A motion was offered by Krahmer, seconded by Haler, to approve the senior class trip as presented. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
VIII. Reports
Superintendent/Principal: READ Act screening had to be done by February 15. CAPTI testing set up has begun.
IX. Adjournment
Motioned by Krahmer, and seconded by Brudelie, to adjourn at 6:13 PM. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
