Independent School District #458 Board Meeting
 July 20, 2026 5:30 PM
I. Call to Order: 5:31 PM
Roll Call: Present — Mike Pfeil, Kenna Krahmer, Maria Haler, Paula Heckman and James Farnum
Absent — Aaron Brudelie
Staff present: Lisa Shellum, Tiara Menke, Yolonda Geistfeld, and Eva Sonnabend.
II. Approval of Agenda:
Motioned by Farnum, and seconded by Krahmer, to approve/amend the July 20, 2026 Board Agenda. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote. 
III. Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes:
Motioned by Heckman, and seconded by Haler, to approve June 15, 2026 regular minutes and June 29, 2026 special meeting minutes. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
IV. Presentation of Bills/Finance (consent agenda)
Motioned by Krahmer, and seconded by Heckman, to approve the July 2026 bills as presented in check register and wire transfer information. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
V. Committees: 
A. Buildings and Grounds -project update - Information on flooring issues
B. Sports Committee -

A. Truman Days - July 24-26
B. Information on Referendum renewal to be approved in August 2026
C. 12U Summer softball went to state.

VII. Action Items
A. Hiring
A motion was offered by Krahmer, seconded by Heckman, to approve the hiring of Alexandra Schuder as paraprofessional/barton at $16.00 per hour, Olivia Smith as paraprofessional at $16.00 per hour, and Jordan Reichel as paraprofessional at $15.50 per hour. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
B. Resignation 
A motion was offered by Farnum, seconded by Haler, to approve the resignation of Wanda Willner as paraprofessional. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
C. Milk Bid 
A motion was offered by Krahmer, seconded by Farnum, to approve the milk bid from Kemps. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
D. Donations
A motion was offered by Farnum, seconded by Haler, and carried to accept the donations from Profinium for back to school supplies of $1,510.00. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
E. Curriculum Purchase
A motion was offered by Farnum, seconded by Krahmer, and carried to approve the quotes for the following new curriculum for the 2026-2027 school year. Math - Eureka Squared - $15,473.53, Arts and Letters - Gr. 6-8 ELA Curriculum $11,133.76, CKLA/Amplify - new 6 year license 3rd Edition - $28,996.44. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
F. Tree Removal
A motion was offered by Farnum, seconded by Krahmer, and carried to accept the bid from Wiens Outdoor Services, LLC for tree removals (removing trees 5 and 6 from bid) $3,806.00. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
G. Fee Sheet
A motion was offered by Farnum, seconded by Krahmer, and carried to accept the fee sheet for 2026-2027 school year. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote. 
VIII. Reports
A. Superintendent/Principal: second door bid for doors in upper high school north end, playground work, and clean out of equipment shed,
IX. Adjournment
Motioned by Farnum, and seconded by Heckman, to adjourn at 6:45 PM. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
