Jodi Miller

October 20, 2026

Jodi Maria (Ahern) Miller, 67, peacefully passed away on Oct. 15, 2026, in LeRoy. She was a deeply loved wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend.
Jodi, the youngest of four children, was born on Jan. 25, 1959, in St. James to Beverly (Pierson) and Lawrence Ahern. The family lived in Butterfield before moving to Truman in 1973, when Jodi was 14. She graduated from Truman High School in 1977. She then attended St. Cloud State University and graduated in 1981 with degrees in math and computer programming.
She was introduced to her husband, Dave, by a mutual friend in 1985, and the couple married soon after, on July 12, 1986. They lived together in Rochester for about six years before moving to LeRoy, which became their forever home. Jodi and Dave enjoyed 40 years of marriage, including raising their three sons and welcoming two granddaughters.
Jodi worked for IBM as a programmer and then later as a systems architect. But Jodi’s true passions were quilting, playing cards and most of all, her family. Inspired by her mother’s love for quilting, Jodi took up the hobby after retirement and created hundreds of beautiful quilts. The Aherns are avid card players and Jodi enjoyed innumerable rounds of games such as Cribbage, Up & Wipes and 500. (She was always the scorekeeper and, mysteriously, usually won …) Jodi was a deeply devoted mother, making sure she was home each afternoon to spend time with her boys, even though that meant waking up at 4 a.m. to go to work in Rochester.
Jodi was very active in her church, St. Patrick’s Parish, where she taught Wednesday night classes and served as a backup pianist for Mass. When the church underwent renovations, Jodi taught herself to create a 3D computer model to help visualize the expansion. She also sewed the banner of St. Patrick that hangs in the church to this day.
Jodi enjoyed traveling throughout her life. Of her many adventures, her first big trip was after graduating college. She backpacked across Europe with her friend Becky. She later traveled through Alaska with her friend Karen. After having children, she went on several domestic trips with her sons, including trips to Wyoming, New England and California. She traveled to Ireland, Australia and Japan many times for work, and also traveled to Ireland to visit her ancestral homeland.
Jodi was preceded in death by parents, Beverly (Pierson) Ahern and Lawrence Ahern; maternal grandparents, Anne (Sanders) Pierson and Nels Pierson; paternal grandparents, Mary (Duffy) Ahern and John Ahern; and parents-in-law, Alverna (Durben) Miller and Elmer Miller
Jodi is survived by husband, David Miller; sisters, Barbara (Ahern) Armburst and Debra (Ahern) Sehr (husband Steven); brother, Craig Ahern (wife Binga); sons, Daniel Miller (wife Ariel) of Minneapolis, Michael Miller of Minneapolis and Mark Miller of Chicago; grandchildren, Brooke and Cora Miller; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and in-laws.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to the Hope Lodge (https://raiseyourway.donordrive.com/events/581/donate) or the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center Research (https://give.mayoclinic.org/campaign/766250/donate).
Funeral Mass was held 10:30 a.m. Oct. 21, at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in LeRoy.
Burial will be in the Butterfield Cemetery, Butterfield.
