Independent School District #458 Board Meeting
August 21, 2023 5:30 PM
I. Call to Order: 5:35 PM
Roll Call: Present — Mike Pfeil, Kenna Krahmer, Maria Haler, Paula Heckman, James Farnum and Jeff Nauman
Staff Present: Lisa Shellum and Eva Sonnabend.
II. Approval of Agenda:
Motioned by Farnum and seconded by Krahmer to approve/amend the August 21, 2023 Board Agenda. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
III. Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes:
Motioned by Nauman and seconded by Heckman to approve the July 17, 2023 regular meeting minutes. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
IV. Presentation of Bills/Finance (consent agenda)
Motioned by Farnum and seconded by Heckman to approve the August 2023 bills as presented in check register and wire transfer information. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.

VIII. Action Items
A. Handbooks
A motion was offered by Heckman, seconded by Krahmer, and carried to approve the 2023-24 Faculty and Student Handbooks. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
B. Resignations
A motion was offered by Farnum, and seconded by Nauman, and carried to approve the resignations of Ashley Parish - Paraprofessional, Art Dougherty - custodial. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
C. Fee Sheet
A motion was offered by Heckman, and seconded by Haler, and carried to approve the 2023-24 fee sheet as presented. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
D. Non-Certified
A motion was offered by Farnum, and seconded by Krahmer, and carried to approve language changes to non-certified working agreements. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
E. Milk bid
A motion was offered by Nauman, and seconded by Heckman, and carried to approve the milk products program master agreement with Kemps for the 2023-24 school year. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
F. Riverbend Education District
A motion was offered by Heckman, and seconded by Krahmer, and carried to approve the working agreement for School Psychologist services from Riverbend Education District at $88.00 per hour plus mileage. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
G. Hirings
A motion was offered by Haler, and seconded by Farnum, and carried to approve the following: .35 School Counselor - Cynthia Celander - $375.00 per day, Savannah Hodge - Full Time Custodian - $18.75 per hour, Janelle Trebesch - Kitchen worker - $14.00 per hour. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
H. Transportation Agreement
A motion was offered by Heckman, and seconded by Nauman, and carried to approve a transportation agreement between District 0458 and Truman Bus Service Inc. for 5 years, expiring on June 30, 2028. Rates set for 2023-24 school year and negotiated yearly until expiration of the contract. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
I. ByteSpeed - Laptop computer quote
A motion was offered by Krahmer, and second by Heckman,to approve the quote of $26,600.00 for staff laptop computers to replace 10-15 year old desktop computers. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
J. Snow Removal
A motion was offered by ________, and second by ___________, to approve the bid for the following snow removal areas for the 2023-24 school year.

IX. Reports
A. Superintendent/Principal - Steam Camp, summer school, football field sideline border, and Ruby Ranch trip.

Motioned by Nauman, and seconded by Farnum, to adjourn at 6:29 PM. Motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
