Lila was born on July 16, 1934, to Julius and Meta (Urban) Wiederhoeft in Madelia. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church Antrim on Aug. 5, 1934, and confirmed, also at St. John’s Church, on April 27, 1948. Lila attended St. John’s Lutheran School for eight years, then finished her schooling at Truman Public School, graduating in 1952. After graduation she worked at different stores in Lewisville. Lila met and married Willis Mohwinkel on Jan. 4, 1954, at St. John’s and together they raised four children. Lila stayed home to raise the children and also helped Willis on the farm. Later, when the children were adults, she worked at Tony Downs Foods in Madelia until her retirement. Willis passed away in 2020 and Lila continued to live on the farm. She was a patient person, but also very funny and quite the jokester. She enjoyed playing cards and spending quality time with friends and family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary (Marlene) Mohwinkel, Jerry (Becky) Mohwinkel, Larry (Amy) Mohwinkel, and Sherry Mohwinkel; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Darlene; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Lyle and Lloyd Wiederhoeft; infant great-grandchildren Edward and Draven; and sister-in-law, Annie.
