Larry Bachmann
Larry E. Bachmann, 88, of Lewisville, died on April 29, 2024, at Living Meadows at Luther in Madelia. Visitation was Monday, May 6, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Sturm Funeral Home, Madelia Chapel. A service was held at that location at 1 p.m. Pastor John Bennett led the service. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Lewisville. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Madelia. Larry Eugene Bachmann, son of Merle and Verda (Hills) Bachmann, was born on May 22, 1935. He was united in marriage to Grace Laura Culbertson on Sept. 27, 1953. The first years of marriage, he worked on road construction, moving the family back and forth from Iowa to Minnesota. He had numerous jobs, as a truck driver for Jones, worked for Tilneys in Lewisville, was a cop in Lewisville and also on the fire department, was a sales person at hardware stores and also a mechanic in St. James. Larry loved fishing up north, riding his horses, collecting horses and traveling. Larry and Grace traveled by motorcycle with a club out of Mankato. After retirement, Larry and Grace worked on jigsaw puzzles together and he also got into woodworking to pass the time away. He loved singing at karaoke and dancing.
Larry is survived by his four children, Vickie Dewar, Kim Bachmann, Julie Bachmann and Sherry (Roger) Curtis; eight grandchildren, Trina (Corey) Driscoll, Stacy (Cliff) Howell, Aaron (Dusty) Kubly, Dayton (Samantha) Bachmann, Emily (Jason) McClusky, Ashley (James) Sullivan, Abigail Badten and Brandon Kubly; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Grace Bachmann; parents, Merle and Verda Bachmann; sister, Betty (Lawrence) Peterson; grandson, Nathan Kubly; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
