Mary Breitbarth
A service for Mary Breitbarth of Fairmont, formerly Truman, will be Friday, July 26, 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. A time for family visitation will be from 9:30–10:30 a.m. Zaharia Family Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Angels led Mary (Ewert) Breitbarth home July 11, 2024, where she was reunited with her husband, Willard, and daughters, Sandi and Patti.
Mary was born Sept. 12, 1935, to Abram and Linda (Harder) Ewert in Mountain Lake. She was the fifth of eight children. Born into a Mennonite farm family, Mary established a strong work ethic that she carried throughout her life.
She met Willard at a café in St. James and the rest was history. They were married in 1954 and together they raised six daughters.
She took pride in the 36 years she worked at 3M in Fairmont. She enjoyed cooking and gardening which usually led to filling many shelves with her home-canned food. She was proud to be a member of the Truman Auxiliary.
Mary enjoyed traveling and experienced a hot air balloon ride in California and parasailing in Australia. However, her favorite time was being surrounded by her girls, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her brother, Bob Ewert; sister, Betty Boulton; daughters, Linda Egeness, Cindy Darnell, Wanda Shurson and Bonnie Blair; sons-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Cecil, Perry, Arden and Sidney; sister, Violet; daughters, Sandi Vargas and Patti Carlson; and one great-grandson.
