Laura Lillian Grace was born on July 31, 1935, near Truman. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Following her graduation in the top 10 of her class from Truman High School in 1953, she married Lyle Albert Greiner at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville on Oct. 24, 1953. After their marriage they continued to live on the family farm and raise their six children there.
Laura enjoyed doing crafts, such as sewing clothing and quilts for her family, counted cross-stitch, weaving rugs and baking and decorating cakes. The two moments in her life she was very proud of were being selected as the first female to attend Girls State from Lewisville and being part of a five-generation picture.
She is survived by children: Michele Siem of Platteville, Colo.; Colette (Douglas) Landsteiner of Fairmont; Monte (Svetlana) Greiner of Mankato; Jayme Greiner (and friend Tammy Hebert) of Wellington, Colo.; Jodelle Greiner of Brookings, S.D.; and Celeste Cummins of Storm Lake, Iowa; sister, Avis (Raymond) Roiger; brother, Melvin Miller; sister-in-law, Irene Engerud; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; two sisters, Alice and Darlene; and other relatives.
